My proposal for the cover of «El Gaditaner» is a composition that captures the pure essence of Cádiz. It brings together the symbols that first come to mind when we think of the city: its cuisine, featuring shrimp fritters and fried prawns served on a traditional Andalusian platter alongside olives; tradition, represented by the crocheted shawl and the mask from our Carnival; and the great local icons, such as the tiles, the fishing boat, the imposing Cathedral, and the beloved Lola Flores. All of them are symbols of Cádiz’s unmistakable artistry.
This design stems from a deep connection to the Cádiz region, specifically Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The composition seeks to capture the essence of summer in Sanlúcar through three key elements: The swallow, the tradition of embroidery, and the color palette.
Cover Redesign: Corazón Quemado (Samuraï)
A class project created using the gouache technique. The design reinterprets the emotional power and melancholy of the song through the opacity and matte finish characteristic of this medium, using intense color contrasts and expressive brushstrokes to visually capture the essence of the song.
